Synthesis and Characterization of Silver/Silica Nanostructures

The peculiarities of the formation of silver nanoparticles on the surface of porous silica with grafted silicon hydride groups were studied. The conditions of the synthesis of silver nanoparticles with different sizes and their structural and optical properties have been investigated. A reproducible method for the formation of stable colloids of nanosized silver covered with silica shells simultaneously with the reduction of the metal and the formation of silica as a result of hydrolysis and polycondensation of triethoxysilane was elaborated.
