Abstract
This paper presents Expert Medical Information System (EMIS) that supports the medical information management such as electronic health records (EHR) and it helps in the diagnostic processes. EMIS is designed using Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). All functionalities of EMIS are provided as services that are consumed by end clients or other services. A service layer masks a business logic and database tiers that execute the functionalities. The business logic contains an electronic health record and an expert system based on PROLOG for improving the diagnostic processes. We present an illustrative example of EMIS to diagnose hemorrhagic dengue.
