This chapter surveys contemporary thinking on the state of conflict and cooperation over transboundary groundwater resources and the evolution of approaches to conflict management to address potential conflicts over the use of transboundary groundwater resources. The findings of this overview reveal that groundwater professionals often overlook their role in both causing and resolving conflicts over groundwater. This chapter will be of interest to groundwater professionals will little to no formal training in dispute resolution and conflict management.
