We have interpreted the results of molecular Monte Carlo simulations from the perspective of line tension in heterogeneous nucleation. Our method enables a numerical estimate of the line tension from the Monte Carlo data. For our test case, Lennard–Jones argon nucleating on platinum substrate the obtained line tension value is t = 1.2 × 10−12 N, which is in the range of earlier reported line tension values for other substances.
