Abstract

This chapter provides a brief introduction into different kinds of techniques which are commonly used in this book. The contents of this chapter is kept at the level of an overview, so that only those aspects are covered which are necessary for a full understanding of the source code optimization techniques presented in chapters 5 to 7. References to more detailed and advanced literature are given in each section of this chapter.
