The purpose of this monograph was to provide an in-depth description and account of how enterprise portals can promote firm-wide knowledge creation, distribution, and use. To facilitate this discussion, knowledge portals were examined from an information perspective. As such, the proceeding chapters covered a variety of topics pertaining to portal adoption and use that explored “human issues” as well as the utilization of “intelligent agents” as a means of fostering the design of portal systems to support knowledge-based tasks.
