Abstract
Perinatal morbidity and mortality due to many treatable disorders, such as rhesus isoimmunisation and diabetes mellitus, have decreased. It is only logical, therefore, to turn attention to those environmental factors encountered in day-to-day lives which represent reproductive hazards. This chapter will focus on elements of the American life style which have been linked to poor reproductive outcome. It should be remembered that, although life in the USA has many aspects unique to that society, other countries in today’s world share these problems. Furthermore, while some studies have demonstrated risks to female reproductive performance, similar factors may pose equal if not greater threats to men.
