Abstract

The nature of the output facilities provided for microprocessors can be divided into two broad categories, those that provide information, and those that provide action. Generally the provision of information is a low power activity, and it is possible to connect directly to the microprocessor output packages. This would be the case, for example, when sending analogue voltage signals to a pointer meter, a chart recorder, or a CRT display via a DAC.
