High Efficiency, High Precision Grinding of Parallel Surfaces
This paper reports on the successful use of vertical double disc grinders producing parallel surfaces of hard materials like tungsten carbide, high speed steel, ruby glass, ceramics, etc. The main target, economical manufacturing, was achieved by integration of grinding technology, design of machine tools, selection of diamond wheels and tailor-made cooling and lubrication systems. The method opened new views to produce tungsten carbide tips, fittings for chemical industries and electronic components combining roughing and finishing of the parts.
