Tool Requirements for Interrupted Cutting
The present paper outlines the problem of tool material requirements for interrupted cutting (milling, bobbing, etc.) proceeding from the metal cutting tribology.
Recent investigations obviously show that path of cut and tool life strongly depend upon the scheme of machining. Tool material for interrupted cutting should have higher strength than for turning and boring operations, small limit of elasticity, linear expansion coefficient and high thermal conductivity.
