Abstract

The communist victories over US-backed governments in Kampuchea (formerly Cambodia), Vietnam and Laos in 1975 generated a series of disruptive mass migrations from, and within, Indo-China. From 1 April 1975 to 31 July 1979, more than 1.2 million people were variously reported to have been displaced from the three countries of Indo-China (sources of statistics are shown below in parentheses after figures):
