Abstract

Peter Fidler was indisputably one of the greatest explorers and surveyors in the history of Canada. It has been estimated that he travelled 48,000 miles in the Canadian West, surveying, mapping, trading, and discovering. (He founded the city of Dauphin, Manitoba, for example, where the museum has a wall chart of Bolsover, a gift from the town.)
