Abstract

Najmuddin Shah Mubarak, who used the pen name “Abru” (Honor) was among the earliest well known Urdu poets of north India. He came from a family of Sufi saints and scholars. He was born in Gwalior in central India, ca. 1683, and migrated to Delhi for employment. He died in December 1733 after being kicked by a horse.2
