Abstract
The economies of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) have seen substantial changes in the last decade, as they have, with varying levels of success, sought the transition from centrally planned to market-led economics (Fingleton et al., 1996).
The research reported in this chapter was funded by the European Union under its ACE94 initiative. The contributions of Professors David Shipley, John Fahy, Irma Agardi, Marin Marinov, Svetla Marinova, and Vladimir Gabrijan to the wider four country study are gratefully acknowledged.
