Working with older women

  • Barbara Daniel
Chapter

Abstract

This chapter draws upon work with older women referred to an NHS psychology department. Many of the women had longstanding psychiatric histories and would present from time to time with a crisis. But both old and new referrals had an identified psychological problem for which their referrer sought a psychological, as opposed to a psychiatric, intervention. Depression was the most frequent diagnosis although its expression in each was always quite unique.
