Abstract

There is one thing all people of the world have in common: they all belong to a household. Therefore they all belong to the household sector of the economy. This sector comprises many activities. Incomes are earned and spent, taxes and social security premiums are paid, money is saved and borrowed, time and money are invested in health and education, houses are cleaned and maintained, meals are prepared, and household members enjoy leisure activities, decide whether or not to move, or to change jobs, and so on.
