Abstract

A growing number of professionals work as self-employed independent contractors and there is every likelihood that this number will grow as NHS Trusts, fund-holding general practitioners, other health service bodies, social services authorities and groups such as charitable organisations and private health care providers have the capacity to contract with self-employed individuals for services. Figure 20.1 shows some of the differing contracting partners for the independent contractors.
