Abstract
The franchise is enjoyed by all British citizens, other Commonwealth citizens and citizens of the Republic of Ireland, with few exceptions, over the age of eighteen. The only other qualification required is that of residence (or, in the case of British citizens only, to have been resident at some time during the previous twenty years).
