The British Problem, c. 1534–1707

Part of the book series: Problems in Focus ((PFS))

Abstract

This book does not set out to supplant the histories of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales with a new British history. The history of Ireland or Scotland within Britain is not the same thing as the history of Cornwall within England or of Fife within Scotland. There are innumerable historical problems which are best seen and best accommodated within the traditional ‘national’ frameworks.
