US West’s Full Service Network

  • Randall L. Carlson

Abstract

US West, a 14-state Regional Bell Operating Company, has always used alliances in the pursuit of its multimedia strategy. In 1988, US West entered the UK market by acquiring a minority interest in Cable London. This was the first time that a telephone company had bought- into a cable television company in the UK. US West foresaw changes in regulations and was intent on offering plain old telephone service (POTS) through a cable television partner’s lines.
