Abstract
The North London Domestic Violence Survey was developed in response to the need for better information on the extent of domestic violence in the general population. For as Smith (1989) has pointed out in her wide ranging review of the literature, such data are necessary if we are to begin to argue for the quantity and range of resources necessary to combat the problem of domestic violence.
The study was commissioned by Islington Council. Financing was provided by the Department of the Environment’s Partnership Scheme and Middlesex University, PCFC funding.
