New reflections on women and crime

Abstract

Everything changes and yet nothing changes. In some ways this paradox sums up the situation of women and crime at the end of the twentieth century. In the new preface I suggested that in public debates and academic discourse the subject has a relatively high profile compared with a decade ago. However, most of its key features have not been reshaped. As I stressed earlier, the four trends of recognition, expansion, engendering the agenda and deconstruction characterise discussion of most aspects of the topic.
