Abstract

Whether or not we can attach money values to environmental changes, it is clear that markets in their present form often allow excessive environmental damage. Some sort of changes are desirable. But what form should they take? In this chapter we will examine some of the options which are available in order to provide protection for environmental values. In most instances, this will involve government action of some sort, but first we will consider the possibility of finding private solutions to environmental problems.
