A Dance to the Music of Time frequently works according to a dual mode. The concepts underpinning the series can be articulated on oppositions partaking of a rhetoric of exploration: order and chaos, dissemination and synthesis, public and private worlds, microcosm and macrocosm, aperture and closure or surface and depth. This last dichotomy finds equivalent renderings in the related contrasts between insight and blindness, proclamation and concealment, gloom and light and transparence and opacity.
