Abstract
In recent years, various attempts have been made to provide an explanation for the restructuring processes which characterised the Italian economy in the last decade. As the data available gradually increased, so the empirical analyses became numerous and broader and more articulated. Setting aside some simplistic interpretations which tend to ascribe the restructuring to a single cause (exchange-rate policies) or to a single player (entrepreneurs, trade unions, the government), a number of articulated models appeared in the literature.
