Abstract
Chapter 2 laid out the conditions which quasi-markets will have to meet if they are to succeed as instruments of social policy. Subsequent chapters discussed the application of those conditions to specific areas of policy, using particular case studies as a base. In this chapter, we pull some of the material together in an attempt to make a preliminary assessment of the likely impact of quasi-markets in welfare provision and to discuss possible policy implications.
