Postscript: the Avant-Garde and History
For the suppressed history of the Russian avant-garde, the 1970s were the great years of rehabilitation. They witnessed the publication of numerous pioneering studies based on archival research, the reprinting and translation of anthologies of manifestos, and the arrangement of retrospective exhibitions. The process culminated in the giant 1979 exhibition ‘Paris-Moscou’ at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.1
