Abstract

It is well known that Julian and Maddalo,like Euganean Hills, was based on a particular experience in Italy which left its mark on Shelley. That experience was the poet’s reunion with Byron which took place in Venice on 23 August 1818, the day of Shelley’s first arrival in the Italian city.1
