Abstract

In both Britain and the US childbearing among girls under age 16 has increased in recent years. Very young mothers face particular difficulties, and are least equipped to cope with the responsibilities of motherhood. Their legal status is anomalous, and continuing their education raises particular difficulties. Taking on the role of motherhood while completing their schooling is by no means a straightforward exercise.
