Abstract

8.1 In this chapter I shall argue two theses: first, that desire-utilitarianism can be enlarged in such a way as to accommodate the prima facie case against killing unwanted neonates, and, second, that in fact this enlargement is not merely ad hoc, since it enables us to overcome what would otherwise be a distressing impasse (which I shall consider in 8.5).
