Crisis Intervention and Task-Centred Models

  • Malcolm Payne

These two models of social work have some features in common, so it is useful to present them together for comparison and contrast. Both stress brief interventions, though these may be strung together in a series. They are both structured, so action is planned and fits a pre-ordained pattern. ‘Contracts’ or other explicit agreements between worker and client are used. The sorts of circumstances in which each may be used are specified.
