Abstract
This chapter considers the concept of quality assurance and its relation to postnatal care. It will consider the theory related to quality assurance and select some of the measurement tools which are available: questionnaires, peer observation surveys and suggestion boxes. Quality circles can identify areas which require improvement and if readers are familiar with Monitor or performance indicators, for example, they may want to consider specific applications of these to the midwifery setting.
