Abstract
There are many ways in which the Vietnamese attempt to make opportunities even within the close confines of the camps; concomitantly, there are many pressures on the refugees to adopt a more Westernised outlook. The processes of conversion and orientation are two such avenues, concerned, from the perspective of the orchestrators, with influencing and changing refugees, but also grasped as opportunities by many Vietnamese.
