Abstract
Throughout the years of occupation, but especially in the 1970s and 1980s, the changing position of women has been a matter of public reflection and debate in Palestine. Their past and continuing subordination, their new responsibilities and new demands, their role in the national struggle and in creating the society of the future, are recurrent topics of informal conversation, public discussion and writing.
