Abstract

This act is the main legislation concerned with health and safety at work and it covers both employees and members of the public. All employers (and the self-employed) have a legal obligation to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety and welfare of all employees. Safe systems of working must be provided and supervised, and training in safe practices must be given to staff. Employers must also ensure that their acts or omissions do not endanger anyone else (non-employees) affected by their work.
