Abstract
The eastern Siberian oil- and gas-bearing region covers a huge territory of 3.4 million square kilometres, and stretches eastwards from the Yenisey river for a distance of 2000 kilometres. It consists of part of the East Siberian Economic Region (Krasnoyarskiy kray and Irkutskaya oblast) and part of the Far East Economic Region (the Yakut republic). Included in this survey are Chukotka and Kamchatka, two other potentially significant areas which are not part of the Siberian Platform.
