Abstract
One of the main characteristics of the Government’s approach to local government from the mid-1980s onwards is the breadth and range of its concern. This chapter provides a ‘round-up’ of key changes not dealt with elsewhere in Part I of the book. Inner City Policy, Economic Development and Social Services are the main focus of attention.
