Harold Edward Monro was born in Brussels and was educated at Radley College and at Cambridge. At his poetry bookshop, opened in Bloomsbury in 1913, he published the five volumes of Georgian Poetry, edited by Edward Marsh between 1912 and 1922; and he offered encouragement and financial assistance to many poets. His own Collected Poems (1933) had an introduction by T. S. Eliot.
