Abstract

As a breakdown of supports that hold at bay pathogenic risks of susceptibility and life-change, and as a breakdown of health of social groups under the onslaught of external forces originating in pathogenic environments, illness takes on two different forms in the loss and deprivation-domination models. Both may be traced to conflict theory’s making sense of the diversity and contradictions of modern society.
