Abstract

Each generation of the women’s movement, Maria Mies has said, must re-examine, reassess and respond to the situations in which we find ourselves. In our generation, we find ourselves up against the further development and application of reproductive and genetic technologies. As Jalna Hanmer (1986) has stressed since the 1970s, these technologies are about more than biological reproduction; they are about social relations.
