Safety at work
Bert Ogden is an apprentice electrician employed at a large paper mill in the South of England, International Paper Products Ltd. Bert has nearly finished his apprenticeship and in fact has just come back from his last block release course at the local technical college. Part of the electrical equipment in relation to one of the pulp machines has developed a slight fault and Bert is asked by his foreman, Mick Mason, to examine the problem. Company rules lay down quite clearly that all electrical equipment must be isolated before it is examined. However the managing director has issued a statement to his employees that they must in all circumstances make every effort to keep production going.
