Abstract

Ian Wood has just been made redundant and he decides to use his redundancy money to purchase a business. The business which he purchases is a shop which sells do-it-yourself materials and items of hardware After just a few weeks in business Ian realises that he needs a van to make deliveries and to collect stock from suppliers. He notices in the local paper an E registered Bedford van advertised at £4960. The van is being sold privately by Alan Willis. Ian goes to see the van which is in very good condition and has done only 8500 miles. Ian makes Alan an offer of £4900 for the van and Alan accepts. Ian pays Alan by means of a cheque and Alan allows Ian to drive the van away.
