Theory of Investment before The General Theory

  • Anna M. Carabelli

Abstract

When one refers to Keynes’s approach to investment and to his view about the central role that investment played in the economic system, one has in mind mainly the analyses he put forward in The General Theory, concerning the process of the determination of income through the so-called multiplier. But in doing this, one neglects the fact that Keynes’s interest in the role of investment represented a constant factor in all his thought.
