Abstract

Implementing strategic decisions inevitably involves changes within the organisation. Changes in strategy, technology and/or structure, are vital if the firm is to anticipate and respond to changes in its environment. Successful organisational change has at least three critical components:

  1. 1

A new strategic vision, translated into detailed operating strategies.

  1. 2

New organisational skills, to make the new vision work.

  1. 3

Commitment of key people in the organisation, to the new vision and the development of new skills (Philips, 1983).
