The World Bank’s Strategy
This chapter sets out, very briefly, the main lines of argument in the report, Accelerated Development in Sub-Saharan Africa: An Agenda for Action, treating diagnosis and prescription separately. Consideration is given to the extent to which events have changed the relevance of the arguments, especially the diagnostic part. Some of the main criticisms of the report’s prescriptions are then discussed, but no attempt is made to be comprehensive.
