Abstract

The modern NMR instrument embodies much more high technology than that outlined in figure 1.4, although the fundamental features are still (a) a magnet, (b) a radio-frequency source and detector and (c) data handling/ display facilities. These instrument parts are all interdependent, and it is impossible to discuss them in strictly ordered isolation. Detailed instrumental capabilities are also scrutinised in later chapters where appropriate.
