Abstract

The purpose of this chapter is to develop a resource of ideas on social justice from traditional and contemporary thought to serve as clear but substantive references in Chapters 7 and 8 in much the same way as the fundamental ideas of justice, morality and education have functioned as formal references after their initial formulation. The latter have given continuity; the former will provide contrast.
