Day Centres

  • Paul James
Part of the Practical Social Work book series (PSWS)

During the past decade day centres have been one of the growth areas within the probation service, although as yet little has been written about them. Within the probation service there are many different kinds of centres. My own experience has been in a voluntary centre linked to the service, but not reliant upon it for either accommodation or funding. Throughout the chapter my aim will be to give an overall impression of day centres, with particular focus on the work, and type of centre with which I am involved.
