Abstract
The services that a quantity surveyor normally provides on a construction project have been described in some detail in earlier chapters and include the following:

(1)
preliminary cost advice;

(2)
cost planning;

(3)
advice on contract procedures and types of contract;
-
(4)
advice on methods of obtaining tenders;
-
(5)
advice on procedures for selecting contractors;
-
(6)
preparation of tendering documents;
-
(7)
adjudication and negotiation of tenders;
-
(8)
periodic financial statements;
-
(9)
valuation of work in progress for advance payments;
-
(10)
preparation and settlement of the final account; and
-
(11)
examination and settlement of claims.
