Abstract

The innervation and gross structural features of the skin of the sole are described on p. 462. The general arrangement of the structures in the sole is similar to that in the palm. Some of the differences between the hand and foot have already been mentioned, particularly the large tarsal bones, the non-prehensile big toe and the shortness of the remaining toes. The arched form of the foot is a special feature.
